What if I told you that it is possible to lose weight and keep it off?! Sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not! What I am about to share with you are 6 essential steps that when put into practice, work!
Step 1. Make Sure You Are Ready for Change
In order to make a life plan you can stick with; you must be ready to make the commitment. Losing weight takes some time and effort. The first step is to make sure you’re truly ready to get started.
Step 2. Set Goals
You will get the most out of your goals if they are realistic, specific and measurable. It is important to decide what kind of weight loss makes sense for you. Assess your eating habits and make a game plan that will include long-term goals and more immediate goals too. Reward yourself when you achieve them and revise your goals regularly to keep yourself challenged.
Step 3. Track Yourself
Track yourself with a food diary and an exercise log. This self-awareness will help hold you accountable. Do you really have to write everything down? Yes. Keeping a food diary takes time when first starting out but it works. Another great thing to do is to take your measurements. When done properly, weighing yourself is fine but keep in mind that the scale isn’t always representative of the progress you are making. Let alone being able to assess how you are feeling inside. Measurements and Progress pictures can be another great way to see the physical progress you are making.
Step 4. Eat Mindfully
Healthy eating means eating a variety of foods in moderation and not going overboard on those foods that you enjoy on special-occasion indulgences. Eat mindfully by knowing the foods that make weight loss easier and that bring you energy! Eat just enough and not too much where you’re feeling so stuffed that you need to unbutton your pants!
Step 5. Commit to Move More
No matter where you’re at now, you can commit to moving more. Whether it’s in a gym, or you’re getting out for a daily walk or you’re dancing in your kitchen. Movement and exercise helps make weight loss much easier. Focus on making room for daily, programmed activity. That way it will become a habit more easily.
Step 6. Get Support
Losing weight can be challenging. We can’t always be expected to do it alone. It’s a good idea to surround yourself with like-minded people, family, friends, exercise buddies, coworkers and professionals.
